These shoes are handmade with a single jute braid that spins over a cotton lining. Its sole consists of two layers, a textile and another natural crepe, which make the footprint very comfortable.

The jute, natural dyes and the shoe itself is made in Bangladesh together with craftspeople in a Caritas camp in Dhaka. The sole is made in Mallorca.

Dive deeper in to the making process yourself via the following video by Pla called Shoes Made By Hand

With every purchase of the Pla shoes you will get a Pla tote to store them inside while taking them with you to a friend’s house or during summer for placing at the beach while taking a dip in the sea.

DESIGNER
Irene Peukes’ designs are inspired by Mallorca, in the region known as the Pla, a place where the most deeply rooted traditions are mixed with influences more diverse of its multiple international visitors.

That fusion is guessed in its collections that have a very modern and current design with an artisan way of working and the use of natural and sustainable materials.

MATERIAL & SIZE
Upper shoe: Naturally dyed yute braids over a cotton lining
Sole: Textile and natural crepe

Every item is unique and slight variations may appear.

To choose your shoe size you must consider the length and the width of your foot. The lasts of our shoes are standard.

In the length indicated in the yute shoes, it is expected that there should be a few millimeters of clearance. For example, if your size is 38, in 24.3 cm it is expected that it will be about 2 mm long.

In the Bonanova style, if your foot is narrow, the foot will feel a little bit looser inside of the shoe because of the low-cut of the design. If the foot is a little bit wide and it feels tight, by using it (as yute is a flexible fiber) it will adapt to your feet.

If the length of the shoe is between two sizes, the right one will be the smallest.

HOW TO TAKE CARE
The shoes can be cleaned with a cloth and, if necessary, dampened slightly to remove specific spots or scuffs, but we do not recommend wetting them too much because they take time to dry.

If a fiber loosens from the braid it can be trimmed off to keep the shoe looking neat and tidy.
